Already with the entry-level red cuvée Carnuntum by Gerhard Markowitsch, used barriques and large wooden barrels are used and of course the grapes for this wine are harvested by hand. This shows the care and quality that applies to every product here in the winery.

The Carnuntum Cuvée 2021 consists of 80% Zweigelt, supplemented by 10% each of Blaufränkisch and Merlot. The vines grow on the sandy, gravelly loamy soil that is typical of Göttlesbrunn and the surrounding area. Due to the high proportion of Zweigelt, the cherry dominates aromatically, with herbal notes and a subtle roasted note. The excellent 2021 vintage leaves its mark here with the combination of ripe fruit, extract and an animating mature acidity that gives the wine the perfect kick. This red wine is completely uncomplicated. Open up and have fun is the motto here.

Culinary, it adapts to many dishes, white and red meat, pizza, pasta, everything from the grill and much more. Of course, it also tastes good on its own, e.g. as a party wine (many people like it, we promise).
