The Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Loreto from Mastrojanni comes from the single vineyard of the same name, which is 1.58 hectares in size and has a southeast orientation. This results in around 8000 bottles per vintage. To distinguish it from the regular Brunello, this wine has a yellow instead of red wax seal on the label.
Tuff and pebbles characterize the soil of Vigna Lorteo, which gives the wine a noble elegance. A special Brunello is created on this terroir, which almost demands its own bottling due to its individual character. As usual with Mastrojanni, this Brunello is also matured for a long time in large traditional wooden barrels.
Monica Larner from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate is enthusiastic about this wine and gives it a full 95/100 points. It highlights the elegant style and the silky character of this Brunello. She calls this wine an "essence of Sangiovese" with a "wild side".
