The name Weinwurm is not a joke or marketing, but actually the surname of Georg Weinwurm, the talented wine-maker from the Weinviertel.
More than sixty years ago the miller Anton Weinwurm thought: with this name I should become a winegrower and he began to plant vines. Today, the family cultivates 14 hectares around Dobermannsdorf, the focus is on Grüner Veltliner, but also very good Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Zweigelt, Syrah and Merlot come from the cellar of the Weinwurms.
The successes of the Weinwurms are impressing: the 2011 Zweigelt Reserve won the gold medal at the Mundus Vini tasting and was awarded the best red wine of Austria .
In 2015, eight wines were handed over to the Poysdorfer wine parade and they all won a gold medal .
