Vina Zadro, Herzegowina
The winery Vina Zadro is located in Domanovici, a village near Capljina, barely 30 km south of the city of Mostar. It manages 45 hectares of vineyards, mainly planted with the native varieties Žilavka and Blatina, as well as the Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. There are other varieties, such as the Alicante Bouchet or Gamay, but actually only grown to pollinate the Blatina, as this is in contrast to most vines no hermaphrodite and needs a partner who flowers at the same time.
At the DECANTER WORLD WINE AWARDS 2017, Vina Zadro's Blatina and Zilavka were awarded as best wines of Eastern Europe by the CZ line, underlining the high quality standards of the winery.
