The long-established winery Ruffino, founded in 1877 by the brothers Illario and Leopoldo Ruffino, produces Chianti since 1877. Shortly after the foundation, numerous awards and medals were won across Europe. The first Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale was produced in 1927. Today it's one of the most famous Italian wine labels.
Over the intervening years, the estate was expanded with various wineries, the Montasso estate is responsible for Chianti, San Gregorio is the home of the Ducale d'Oro, and Greppone Mazzi produces Brunello, Lodola Nuova the Vino Nobile and La Solatia grow white wines.
