Prunotto - Piemont

Prunotto is one of the bestknown traditional houses in Piedmont. In the 1920s, Alfredo Prunotto took over a winegrowers' cooperative that was in financial need and built up his wine trading and producing company. At the beginning of the 1960s, Prunotto was one of the first houses to develop and market particularly good vineyards separately, which is standard in many wineries today. When the then owner retired in 1994 for reasons of age, the well-known Antinori wine family took over the shares in Prunotto. Today one has 65 hectares of vineyards, which are planted with the most suitable clones according to the latest knowledge. The top wines mature in large oak barrels, as is the best Piedmontese tradition.
