Magnien, Henri - Burgund

Domaine Henri Magnien was founded in 1987, but the family has been in viticulture for centuries and has its own Pinot Noir clone called Pinot Magnien. Charles Magnien has been running the estate since 2009 and is a member of the new generation of winemakers who believe in freshness and precision. Traditional craftsmanship is combined with the latest knowledge and of course meticulous work, the result is great wine. The wines are never masked by wood, still an expression of their origin, with as little human influence as possible. The domain belongs to 6 hectares in Gevrey-Chambertin and since 2018 also one hectare on the Côte-de-Beaune. Charles Magnien is a prospective winemaker, of whom there is still a lot to be expected.

Neil Martin (ex. Parker, today Vinous) about Charles Magnien:  "His style of wine lean towards the slightly more fruit-driven side, more Mortet than say Rousseau. His is a new name on the scene and judging by the quality of these 2018s, plus two or three 2017s, it is a name to look out for."
