Luis Pato is the pioneer and quality pacemaker in the Bairrada wine region, north of the city of Coimbra in northern Portugal. He was one of the first winemakers to bottle his own wine and use barriques for aging. His passion is the local Baga grape variety, which produces structured and long-lasting red wines in this relatively cool region. He thinks his wines are a combination of the technical perfection of the new world and the tradition of the old world. Stylistically, however, we would rather assign these independent wines to second place. A high quality classic of Portuguese viticulture. The 60 hectare vineyards are planted with the red Baga and Touriga Nacional grapes, as well as with the white varieties Maria Gomes, Bical, Bairradas Cercial and Sercialinho.
