Langmeil Winery, Australien

The Langmeil Winery in the Australian Barossa Valley, is probably the owner of the oldest Shiraz vines in the world . These were planted in 1843 by the German immigrant Christian Auricht, whose family was expelled from their Silesian homeland by religious unrest and founded Langmeil as an agricultural mixed farm. In 1932 Aurichts grandson founded Langmeil. After its economic decline at the end of the 1980s, the property was acquired in 1996 by Richard Lindner, Carl Lindner and Chris Bitter, who once again turned the dilapidated property into a model winery and established themselves at the forefront of the Australian wine-makers. Since 2011 the estate belongs to Richard and Shirley Lindner and their sons Paul and James, who continue the word at Langmeil with great passion.
