Chateau Mauvesin Barton - Bordeaux
Château Mauvesin Barton is the latest acquisition by the Barton family, who own the famous Cru Classé Léoville-Barton and Langoa-Barton in Saint-Julien. The historic estate in Moulis-en-Médoc has existed since 1457, the magnificent chateau as we know it today was built by the Marquis de Mauvesin in 1853. The 55 hectares of vines are planted with 54% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Cabernet Franc, average age of the vines is 35 years. Depending on the vintage, the Grand Vin is aged in barriques for 12-15 months, around one third of the barrels are new. The second wine is called l’Impression de Mauvesin-Barton.
The estate has belonged to the Bartons since 2011, the quality has risen steeply since then, but luckily the prices have not yet, so the wines are still real bargains.
