Château de Sainte Gemme belongs to Château Lanessen, one of the most famous and high-quality estates in Haut-Médoc, whose excellent terroir is located near to Saint-Julien. The 8 hectares of vineyards of Sainte Gemme are separately harvested, matured and marketed, so this is not a second wine of Lanessan but an independent terroir. Stylistically, Chateau de Sainte Gemme is an early-access red wine with rather soft tannins, which can be enjoyed immediately after bottling.
The great vintage 2009 has a dark ruby color. The seductive nose shows notes of black currant, a floral scent and some cigar box. On the palate you can feel the fullness of the great vintage, the wine has an excellent balance and round tannins. A beautiful Haut Médoc at a great price.
