For the Reserva Castillo de Almansa , the Bodegas Piqueras uses Monastrell, Garnacha Tintorella and Tempranillo bush vines, which have a high age of 35-55 years and bring the appropriate flavor . The wine is aged for 12 months in American 300 L barrels and then stored in the bottle for several months, before it is sold.
The 2012 edition of the Reserva was highly decorated, it won a gold medal at the Berliner Wein Trophy and a silver medal at Mundus Vini . The 2013 has a rich scents, a varied fruit note of plums and raspberries, as well as an elegant toasty note. On the palate it is medium to full, has a good extract and a perfect balance. A very nice wine from the up-and-coming south-east of Spain.
