The Blaufränkisch plays at Seewinkelhof Salzl only a supporting role, but a very charming one. The dry Blaufränkisch Ried Lüss from Salzl's "Classic" series has a ruby red color with a violet edge that shows only a little lightening. Ripe blackberries and blueberries can be found in the scent, along with a hint of liquorice, figs, cocoa and cherries. The taste shows a low acidity and a lot of soft fruit, which makes the velvety tannins almost completely disappear. In the balanced finale with the typical fullness of the excellent 2019 vintage, in the balanced aftertaste you can find the ripe berries of the fragrance, plus some black tea and nougat. Everything looks very round, harmonious and prepared with a sure instinct. A remarkably charming Blaufränkisch that many people like. It is dry, but equipped with little tannins or acid. In order to emphasize the fruit and make the wine palatable young, no aging in wooden barrels is made here.

As always with the wines of the Salzl family, the extremely attractive price-benefit ratio should also be emphasized here. It's rare to find so much charm and character in this class. Already in the 1980s, people here have specialized in dry wines, and today they benefit from this lead in experience in this corner of Burgenland, in which sweet wine production is traditionally very important. This red wine embodies its origin, the Seewinkel in the south-east of Lake Neusiedl, its Blaufrankisch grape variety and of course the Salzl house style, which is always soft. A wine like the flat and spacious landscape in which it grows, they always say there, completely without corners and edges. It grows on sandy loess/loam soil with a high proportion of gravel, which makes the soil permeable to water, because vines don't like wet feet (roots).

We highly recommend this wine. You will hardly find anything better in this price range. Promise!
