Rosé Prosecco is relatively new because the name Prosecco used to describe a grape variety, and it was white. That was changed in 2010, since then this name has referred to a growing area in Veneto and Friuli, the grape variety for which was baptized Glera. Since 2020, Pinot Noir has also been allowed to be mined there for Prosecco production. Rosé Prosecco must consist of at least 85% Glera grapes, the rest being Pinot Noir, which gives the colour.
The grapes for the Biscardo Prosecco Rosé - by the way, the international term rosé is used here and not the Italian rosato - are carefully harvested by hand and fermented in a cool place so that the fruitiness is preserved. This dry sparkling wine is delicately pink in color and has a stimulating scent of peaches, wild berries and a light floral note. On the palate it is lively and charming with a medium weight, the aromas of the fragrance are found in the finale. A very nice Prosecco that is only made from a specific vintage. An ideal aperitif, but can also be enjoyed with food, try it with antipasti, fish or vegetarian dishes.
