The Chardonnay grape is the most important white wine variety in Salzl. The Chardonnay "New Style" is the middle structure of this grape variety in the Seewinkelhof range, the wine was fermented in Barrique and on the Fine yeast and therefore has a noticeable aroma of new wood, which is highly remarkable in this (price) class. The yeast is repeatedly stirred up in the barrels (batonnage), which gives the wine even more creaminess and thus contributes to the charming style.
The Chardonnay New Style is very dense and intense, it already impresses in the scent and confirms this immediately on the palate. The combination of voluminous body, the slightly toasty vanilla barrique tone and the fruity charm is difficult to resist. The aromas are reminiscent of apples, pineapple, apricots, vanilla and some coconut, a fine herbaceous note and the attractive roasted notes of the barrique aging round everything off. The New Style is very powerful and always perfectly balanced, leaving a pleasantly creamy mouthfeel in the long-lasting finish.
Remarkable here is the extremely pleasing price level of the Salzl wines, which applies particularly to the New Style. At this price level you will hardly find a better barrique Chardonnay, at most a stylistically different one.
The food recommendations of the Salzl family for this wine are crustaceans, white meat, poultry, offal or also for Thai cuisine, in which many aromas of this wine can be found.
