Les Sorcières (= the witches, as you can also see on the label) is what Hervé Bizeul calls his entry-level red wine from the Domaine du Clos des Fées.

The Socières 2021 is a voluminous red wine with a very intense scent of dark berries such as ripe blackberries, blueberries and black currants, plus a hint of cocoa and the typical Mediterranean herbal spice. On the palate it is opulent and charming, while being intensely fruity, its ripe tannins giving the fruit its corset in the long finish. A very typical Roussillon wine with all its southern fullness and power. High-quality and at the same time suitable for the masses.

The cuvée is made up of 50% Syrah, plus Grenache and Carignan, the last two from very old vines that are between 40 and 80 years old. The harvest is of course done by hand. The aging takes place on the fine lees in steel tanks for eight months. Only very small amounts of sulfur are used.

Unfortunately, there are hardly any current press reviews of the wine, so we have to look back at old vintages. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate rates the 2012 vintage at 90/100 and the 2015 vintage at 88/100. Falstaff magazine rated the 2010 vintage 91/100.
