Saint-Joseph is the tip for elegant Syrah from the northern Rhône, which you can still get reasonably cheap. This example from Maison les Alexandrins is a prime example of a Cool Climate Syrah from the Northern Rhône. A wine with elegance, bite and structure that can stay in the cellar for a few years.
The 2020 vintage is an elegant type with fine and perfectly mature tannins on the northern Rhône. A high quality year with classic style. Despite the warm year, the wines have retained an amazing structure, similar to that in Burgundy, which is otherwise more likely to be found in cooler years. The red Saint-Joseph from Maison les Alexandrines matured for 10 months in used barriques, which gives it the final touch, but never dominates aromatically. A lively and wonderfully delicate Syrah with a nice depth.
