The Morgon is said to be the closest proximity of the Beaujolais Crus to the Pinot Noirs from Bourgogne. It is considered to be relatively rich in tannins, even if it is, of course, still a soft red wine. High quality Beaujolais can be stored, this applies particularly to the Cru Morgon. Jean-Paul is the father of Charly Thevenet, who markets the Morgon under his name up to and including the 2017 vintage, with the 2018 vintage Charly taking over the entire domain.
The 2020 Morgon Tradition, an excellent vintage by the way, is an enchantingly beautiful wine, extremely delicate, soft and yet powerful, with all the beautiful aromas that characterize a Beaujolais such as white pepper, raspberry and Cherry. Everything is in the best balance here. Must try!
