In particularly privileged locations, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grow for the Loam, a Bordeaux blend aged in barriques from Alpine South Tyrol. The vines for this wine are on slopes between 250 - 350m altitude on gravelly loam ("Loam") - soils. The high temperature differences between day and night favor the formation of aromas in the grapes.
Falstaff magazine writes about the 2018 Laom (2019 and 202 ratings are not available): "Dark, luminous garnet with a cherry-red rim. Fine fruit of ripe plums, blackberry jelly, some mint and candy, with a hint of spicy wood in the background. It shows in a full robe with grippy, well-integrated tannins, lots of substance and a robust structure, presses on the palate again in the finale and shows character, good potential. 93/100."
