The Paul Mas Estate wines are harvested from Paul Mas' own vineyards. They come from the Nicole winery near Pézenas and the Château Paul Mas in Conas. The success story of this wine company is unparalleled in the Mediterranean south of France. In 1995, Jean-Claude Mas started making wine in the family winery after learning at various wineries around the world. He quickly had great success with modern wines, which he brought to the market at fair prices. Mr. Mas took over another 12 (!) wineries over the years. Whatever he did, he succeeded!
When you have this gorgeous Chardonnay Réserve Nicole Vineyard in your glass, you immediately understand where the success comes from. What you get here for a well-made white wine with a barrique note for less than 8 € a bottle is quite remarkable. It has a delicate golden yellow colour. The scent contains exotic notes such as pineapple, some hazelnut, linden blossom and vanilla, as well as a delicate roasted note from the wooden barrel. A typical Chardonnay on the palate with its creamy mouthfeel, soft to opulent, low acidity, pineapple at the back. Despite its warm growing region, it is always fresh and has a nice drinking flow. It never gets boring or tiring. Everything is in the right place here.
It is best to enjoy the Chardonnay Reserve Nicole Vineyard by Paul Mas in the first 3-4 years after the harvest, as long as the fruit is still present with all its youthful vigour. Serve it with white meat, pies, casseroles, seafood and spicy fish dishes, e.g. from the grill. You will be enthusiastic! You can of course drink it just like that. Here, too, he is completely convincing.
