The traditional winery Tenuta di Gracciano della Seta was first mentioned in 1864 under the name Cantine Svetoni at the time, as it won the main prize at the international wine festival in Turin and thus caused a stir. A total of 70 hectares of land are now owned, 20 hectares of which are vines in the Casale, Toraia, Maramai and Podere sites, on the Gracciano hill, the classic area of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Here you will be happy if you are looking for a classically structured Vino Nobile that perfectly transports the freshness and elegance of a Sangiovese. You've come to the wrong place if you're looking for an opulent fruit wine.

The Graciano della Seta Vino Nobile is aged in French and Slavonian oak barrels of various sizes in a traditional way. The basis of the quality philosophy is the low yield of only 30-35 hl per hectare. Advisory oenologist is Beppe Rigoli, who owns the Fattoria Ambra in the Carmignano area.

The owner family della Seta has invested a lot in the quality of the wines in recent years, extensive new planting and a new winery have increased the quality again. All wines from the 2018 vintage have organic certification.

The 2019 vintage is considered the biggest year since 2016 and should have a long life ahead of it.

This Vino Nobile consists mainly of the Prugnolo Gentile grape variety (a Sangiovese clone), supplemented with 10% Merlot. The 2011 vintage was awarded the highest rating of 3 stars in the Italian wine guide Veronelli.

A recent tasting note from Decanter magazine on Vini Nobile Graciano della Seta 2019: Quote: "In the area of Gracciano, sandy soil tends to yield elegant, crunchy wines, as is the case here. In 2019, winemaker Giuseppe Rigoli Even did a bit of bleeding of the must to lend some concentration. The result is a full-fruit wine with freshness and flavor. It is in the floral spectrum of Sangiovese, expressing violets and lavender. Its powdery tannins layer up but that juicy acidity keeps the mouth clean. Well-integrated oak allows the fruit to shine. 92/100
