The white grape Roter (=red) Veltliner was once the dominant variety in the Wagram region. Due to their vulnerability to frost, their cultivation has declined dramatically. Today, it has the status of a rare specialty, but can produce remarkably high-class and long-lasting wines. Its name is of the slightly reddish coloring, which the berries get at full maturity. It is not related to the Grüner Veltliner.
The Roter Veltliner from the Leth winery shows a good extract with middle weight body, it is well-tended, in the long lasting final it is harmonious, grippy and lively. It fits on many occasions and is a real enrichment.
