Chanson owns an impressive 5.4 hectares in the Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru "les Vergelesses". A parcel classified as 1er Cru does not meet the high quality standards of the winery and is therefore only marketed as Pernand-Vergelesses Villages.
In the great 2020 vintage, a particularly profound and powerful Les Vergelesses 1er Cru was created with great elegance and a lot of pressure on the palate, which nevertheless also inspires with freshness. A great wine that keeps up with many well-known AOPs.
Decanter magazine rates the 2020 Les Vergelesses by Chanson with a respectable 93/100 and writes: "A bit reticent at first, but opens with a bit of time to show a dark plummy fruit with an earthy edge. The wine is tannic and slightly rustic in nature, but with a bit of time to round out in bottle it should show well.Chanson has more than 5ha here planted to Pinot, and another 2ha to Chardonnay.The soils are fairly heavy clay, but the southeast-facing ripen fruit well - some lots came in above 14.5%. The grapes are partially destemmed and gently fermented."
