2020 is the twentyfirst vintage of this Supertuscan that grows in the Tuscan hills between the cities of Florence and Sienna. The Oreno by Sette Ponti consists of the Bordeaux grape varieties Cabernet, Merlot and Petit Verdot and is matured in French barriques (225L barrels). In terms of quality, it is among the absolute top in Tuscany and therefore also in the whole of Italy and the world. The wine has a very full and concentrated style, but on the other hand it also has a structure and complexity that can only be found in world-class wines.
2020 is another excellent vintage, which is only just behind the legend of 2016. The 2019 Oreno is a masterpiece that scores 99/100 points from James Suckling. He comments: "This is one of the best modern-day Orenos so far."
Falstaff magazine awards the 2020 Oreno 97/100. Quote: "Luminous, radiant ruby red. Smells gently of blackberries, ripe wild berries, some liquorice and mint, plus a fine sealing wax in the aftertaste. Radiant on the palate, clear, tightly woven tannins, fruit present, very juicy in the back area, appears balanced and profound, long finish."
