The Gigondas La Gille from Perrin grows on terraces below the village, where cool winds protect the vines from the summer heat and give the wine its characteristic elegance. The soils consist of limestone, marl, clay and sand, ideal for Grenache Noir, which makes up 60% of the wine, the remaining 40% being Syrah. The grapes are fermented completely free of the stems and then aged in large wooden barrels and barriques.
2021 is considered a subtle vintage on the southern Rhône. The wines are fresh for this warm growing region, have a delicate nature and a lot of charm, but also a lot of pressure. Very attractive, just like smelling and tasting here in the 2021 Gigondas La Gille. The finesse of this wine is certainly also characterized by the high proportion of 40% Syrah, which in previous years was more like half.
