Tenuta la Braccesca produces the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and the Syrah wines from the Cortana region of Antinori. The winery with 340 hectares of vineyards has belonged to Marchesi Antinori since 1990. The main grape varieties are Sangiovese and Syrah, plus a small portion of Merlot.
The Achelo is a single origin Syrah from Cortana. This vine thrives particularly well in this area, which is why it is also called the Rhône of Tuscany. Two thirds of the wine is matured in used barriques, the rest in the tank. The scent shows Mediterranean spices and ripe dark berries such as currants and blackberries. The taste is very smooth, with ripe tannins and a long and balanced finish. Makes a lot of fun!
