The Silex gets its name from the numerous flint stones in the soil of this vineyard, which are also held responsible for the aromatic character of this wine. The wine is fermented spontaneously, i.e. without added yeasts, and then one half matures in steel tanks, the other in barriques, with 25% new oak being used. It is bottled after about one year.
With all the body, the Vouvray Silex d'Orfeuilles is also mineral and balanced. A powerful, but not heavy, white wine that can also be stored for a long time. The winery mentions 20 years with proper storage. Organic farming.
