For us, the Syrah is usually the best wine in the Reserve series from the Seewinkelhof Salzl. It is not without reason that it is sold at a slightly higher price than the other varietal wines in this line. 2020 is another excellent vintage with full-bodied wines with a high level of balance. The Syrah Reserve 2020 from the Salzl family spent twelve months in 100% new small oak barrels. A real luxury for a wine in this price range. It has a dark red color with violet reflections. Its beguiling scent is reminiscent of ripe dark berries, herbs, vanilla, black olives, juniper and black cherries. The varied aromas make the wine very complex and exciting, in the long finale the fine tannins and the extract-rich body round things off. A great and very charming red wine!
Falstaff Magazine awards the Salzl Syrah 2019 90-92/100 points and writes: "Dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate lightening of the edges. Juicy black cherries, a hint of sweet spices, ripe plums, candied orange zest. Juicy , touch of red berries, fresh cherries, well-integrated tannins, mineral, fruity finish, a lively accompaniment to food." 2020 is not rated yet, as janurary 2025
