2022 is once again an outstanding vintage in Beaujolais, stylistically comparable to the opulent and fruity 2020s. The wines have a lot of fruit, ripe tannins and an animating freshness.

The 2022 Régnié Grain & Granitby Charly Thevenet has the perfect balance between body and tannin, plus an incredibly delicate fruit. It is perfectly balanced at a high level, thanks to its lively interplay between fruit, acidity and structure, the unique bite of the Gamay grape variety, without the need for a lot of tannin. It's a pleasure when young and will also age very well in the bottle, as the recently tried brilliant 2015 impressively demonstrated, which still has many years ahead of it. We don't know of any comparable Régnié.

The Grain & Charly Thevenet's Granit comes from a three-hectare plot whose vines were planted in 1932 and 1964 and are farmed biodynamically. The wine is aged 50% in concrete tanks and 50% in used Burgundy barrels; sulfur is only used minimally during bottling. Charly Thevenet always harvests late and then selects rigorously, only the very best grape material goes into his wine. The wine is neither fined nor filtered.
