Ladoix (actually Ladoix-Serrigny) lies north of the city of Beaune and is one of the oldest wine-growing communities in Burgundy. White wine accounts for about a quarter of the production here, the famous Corton hill partly belongs to this commune, technically called Ladoix-Serrigny. Faiveley makes a super elegant Ladoix, which is fermented and aged in barriques, the proportion of new casks is just under a third.
Marnes Blanches means white marl, which indicates the nature of the soil. In Burgundy, the Chardonnay is mostly on the lighter soils and the Pinot Noir on the darker ones.
2021 is a vintage characterized by relatively cool weather, which was ideal for the white wines. Freshness and elegance characterize the wines, of which there are only small quantities because of the spring frosts. The Ladoix Marnes Blanches from Domaine Faiveley can be enjoyed young, but it also stores very well, it has a good structure, it is aromatically complex and will continue to refine in the bottle. A really great Burgundy at a reasonable price.
