2018 is an excellent red wine vintage in Germany, and there has probably never been such a large amount of great Pinot Noirs before. The Rings Spatburgunder vom Kalkfels grows on calcareous soils in the village of Kallstadt. Of course, the grapes are picked by hand and the fermentation takes place without any added yeast. The wine is then matured in new and used barriques; it is not filtered before bottling. The wine is firm and endowed with salty minerality, a first-class cool climate Pinot Noir with a fine tannin structure that does not need to fear any competition in its class, even internationally.
