The 2018 vintage is probably the most opulent Sociando Mallet ever. The press reviews are correspondingly euphoric; many well-known wine journalists see this year as one of the winery's best ever.

James Suckling gives it 95/100 and says this is one of the best Sociando mallets in a long time.

Decanter magazine is at 94/100 and says: "A wine to look out for".

The Weinwisser (CH) writes about fireworks and ranks it among the “best buys” of the year.

Tasting note Frank Rembold, September 2023: "dark color, purple edge. Fully ripe Cabernet without overripeness, very clear, slightly ethereal, fine oak, cherry and plum, warm stones after a summer rain. Despite its 14.5% alcohol The wine has no heaviness at all, on the contrary, even a lively, lively acidity and a lot of salivating grip. I am very impressed. A great Sociando that has much more bite than you would expect from the opulent 2018 vintage. For me, the best vintage of this wine, I've ever tried (almost all of them since 1986 vintage).

The wine bears a special black label for the 50th vintage of the owner Jeau Gautreau.
