The Bourgogne rouge by the Domaine Louis Chenu originates predominantly from vineyards in Savigny-les-Beaune. The vines are old, the yields low and the wine enormously concentrated for a Bourgogne AOP, which naturally also contributes to the great vintage 2018, which reached its concentration and maturity record levels in Burgundy.
The magazine Falstaff already gave 90/100 points to the certainly lighter 2013er vintage and remarked: "Fine bouquet of dark chocolate, black cherry and a delicate trace of essential spices. The sensual scent continues on the palate, but does not leave the drunkard back, but animated by demanding acidity and a racy structure. Great pleasure! "
An entry-level wine of the highest standard, which puts many nominally superior Villages wines in the shade.
