The Barolo by Pio Cesare is one of the great classics of Piedmont. A long-lasting, powerful, elegant and structured red wine of a very high level. In Piedmont it is traditionally customary to combine different vineyards. The 2019 Barolo Pio Cesare comes from plots in Serralunga d’Alba (locations: Ornato, La Serra and Briccolina), Grinzane Cavour (Gustava and Garretti), La Morra (Roncaglie), Novello (Ravera) and in Monforte (Mosconi). All of these have their individual characteristics and give this Nebbiolo wine its unique character. Just as traditional as the cuveeting is the long aging period in large wooden barrels; Pio Cesare lets the Barolo mature in them for 30 months.

As in many European growing regions, the red wines of the 2019 vintage in Piedmont are high-class and powerful and will have a long development time. However, the 2019 harvest was low due to the drought. So there isn't too much of this delicious Barolo.

The 2019 Barolo Pio Cesare has notes of cherries, raspberries and plums in the scent. It is more tannic than its Barbaresco brother and is reminiscent of the great Barolo years of bygone times. The long finish has a lot of grip and a rich extract that perfectly balances the abundant tannins.
