The "Zin" is often considered to be California's very own vine, although it originated in Croatia, where it is known as Crljenak. The Beyers Ranch Zinfandel from Wente is a typical representative of this variety, a full-bodied and powerful red wine. That's what the Zinfandel in California stands for. The fruit is reminiscent of dark berries, it has a mouth-filling juiciness and a long finish, aromatically supported by aging in wooden barrels. A Californian wine classic at a very fair price.
