Thomas Hensel's Spätburgunder Aufwind is gently kissed by the wood, about 10% was in used barriques. This gives the intense fruit a little extra spice and noblesse. Cherries, red berries and spicy notes like pepper can be found in this wine. It is round on the palate, the tannins are very much in the background, the fruit is in the foreground. A Pinot Noir that can be enjoyed without long aging.
"Aufwind" refers to the estate wines, which are very fruity and super charming at Thomas Hensel. The Pinot Noir tastes great when freshly bottled, but it also ages in the bottle for a few years. A Pinot Noir that is suitable for the masses.
