The Pure Eden Shiraz grows in a single vineyard in the Eden Valley that was planted in the 1890s. This old vineyard with its over 100-year-old vines has belonged to Langmeil since 2011 and has been bottled separately since the 2013 vintage.
The 2017 is a real powerhouse with aromas of dark berries, plums, black olives and savory herbs. Very concentrated on the palate, with clearly noticeable tannins that give the opulent fruit the supportive corset. A wine that calls for intense dishes.
Quote from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Burnt bay leaf, roasted meat, espresso - the Pure Eden Shiraz 2017 is the best tasting of all the vintages that I was allowed to try. It is medium to full-bodied, but firmly structured, almost corsetted, if you will, in a dense shell of firm tannins that become dusty in the persistent finish. He is focused and complex, but anything but charming. Give it at least a few more years of storage. 93+/100"
