The Crozes Hermitage Saint-Jaimes comes from the best vineyard of 4 Vents, from over 40-year-old vines planted by the grandfather of the current owners. Lucie and Nancy rely on whole bunch fermentation, the complete grape including the stems and seeds is mashed and fermented without the addition of yeasts, the entire maceration takes about a full month. After fermentation, the wine is aged for one year in used 600L barrels. It is bottled without fining and filtration.
The first-class vintage 2017 is very dark, with a violet edge. The fragrance features ripe fruits such as strawberries, cassis and blackberries, as well as a hint of liquorice. On the palate, it is very concentrated, opulent and powerful and provided with very well integrated tannins. An intense Crozes Hermitage, which is even superior to many Hermitage wines.
