The Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Château La Nerthe is one of the great classics of the southern Rhône. This wine was exported all over the world as early as the 18th century! The plots of Château la Nerthe are located on different types of AOP soil and are planted with the Grenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault grape varieties. This creates a rich and substantial Chateauneuf that best reflects this appellation.
The 2019 vintage is considered a great success in the southern Rhône Valley. The wines have a high degree of maturity and an enormous concentration and the tannin structure is also more present than in 2018 and 2020.
The 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Château la Nerthe has a garnet red color with a purple edge. The scent already indicates its intensity, it is reminiscent of black currants and cherries, there is also a hint of black olives and a pepper note due to the high proportion of Syrah in this vintage. The palate is intense, with great density in the extract and lots of ripe tannins, which will allow the wine to mature for a long time of at least 20 years if you let it, because it already tastes really good.
