The red Châteauneuf-du-Pape of the Domaine du Vieux Lazaret is made by the classic grape varieties of the southern Rhône Valley. The Grenache Noir has the biggest part, plus Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvedre. Traditionally the wine is mainly fermented and stored in concrete tanks, only about 15% is aged in barrels. For the perfect balance of the cuvée, grapes from different soils and vineyards of the famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape area are used.
2017 is an intense and powerful Chateauneuf vintage with mediterranean spicy notes and opulent softness, which can be enjoyed immediately after bottling. Nevertheless, it has an ageing potential for several years in the bottle.
