The Tenuta di Gracciano della Seta is a historic winery. In 1864 it the main prize of the international wine festival in Turin under the former name Cantine Svetoni and caused a great sensation. Today, 70 hectares of land, including 20 hectares of vineyards in the Casale, Toraia, Maramai and Podere vineyards, belong to the property of the Gracciano hill, the classic area of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Here, a Vino Nobile is produced with abundance and classic elegance that matures in French and Slavonian oak barrels of various sizes. The basis of the quality philosophy is the low yield of only 30-35 hl per hectare. Consulting Oenologist is Beppe Rigoli, who owns the Fattoria Ambra in the Carmignano area.
The owner family della Seta invested in the last few years much in the quality of the wines, extensive new crops and a new winery have increased the quality again. All wines will have a BIO certification from the 2018 vintage.
This Vino Nobile mainly consists of the grape variety Prugnolo Gentile (a Sangiovese clone), supplemented with 10% Merlot. In the Italian wine guide Veronelli, the 2011er was awarded the highest rating of 3 stars.
