Hugels Estate Riesling only grows in locations in the town of Riquewihr that belong to the winery itself. The marl soil gives the wine its unique character. The grapes are strictly selected and processed very gently, the must is moved in the cellar only by gravity. Before bottling, it is only lightly filtered.
By the way, in Alsace, the 2016 vintage was excellent, although it rained a lot and ripened late, but the harvest at the end of September had perfect sunny weather, which made it possible to harvest a very healthy grape in pleasing quantities (in contrast to many wine-growing regions in neighboring Germany).
In terms of aroma, the Hugel Estate Riesling 2016 inspires with notes of ripe apples, white peach and a delicate floral note. It is clear and fresh on the one hand, and mineral, rich in extracts and deep on the other. A perfect interpretation of an Alsace Riesling, now ready to drink but far from the end of its development. It accompanies the classic dishes of the Alsatian cuisine just as well as fine fish dishes of the haute cuisine.
