The Gigondas La Gille by Perrin grows on terraces below the village, where cool winds protect the vines from the summer heat and give the wine its characteristic elegance. The soils are are limestone, marl, loam and sand, ideal for the Grenache Noir, which accounts for 80% of the wine, the remaining 20% are Syrah. The grapes are completely destemmed and then aged in large oak barrels and barriques.
Robert Parker's Rhône author Jep Dannuck describes the 2015 Gigondas La Gille as classy in character, with flavors like raspberries, ripe cherries, spices and floral notes. Medium to full body with elegant texture, beautifully balanced and with a maturation potential of 7-8 years. Rating: 91/100. 2016 is has not been rated yet, but the vintage is equally good as 2015, but more elegant in style
