2016 is unquestionably a very big Bordeaux vintage, wilder and tanninhaltiger than its predecessor, the fine 2015er, which also shows at Chateau Cambon la Pelouse. Quite powerful, yet with freshness and precision, intense with ripe dark berries, this is very high-quality wine making, better than some Grand Cru Classé. 2016 has a slightly higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (54%) than in 2015, plus 42% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot, aged in barrels, of which 35% were new, 50% in second use.
Wine critic James Suckling : "Very classic Haut-Médoc with tons of blackcurrants and blackberries. Yet there’s rather classic balance with elegant, moderately dry tannins and a long, clean finish. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink or hold. 92/100"
