The Sagrantino from Montefalco is one of the most powerful red wines in Italy, 15% alcohol is more the rule than the exception, sometimes more is possible. This wine is balanced because the extract and the tannin leves are also very high. The Campo di Reina Sagrantino is aged for 24 months in large traditional wooden barrels and a further 12 months in bottles before going on sale. Its aromas are reminiscent of dark berries and plums, with a slightly dried character, leather, chocolate and undergrowth can also be found in this complex powerhouse. Impressive!
