AVAIABLE MID to END of NOVEMBER 2017
The Domaine du Clos des Tourelles has been owned by the Perrin family for a few years. The fortified building from the 17th century with the adjacent vineyards, which are surrounded by a wall (= french Clos), are a real gem. Within a few years, the Perrin family has managed to build up a second premium winery on the same level as their famous Chateau de Beaucastel. The biodynamically grown wine consists of very old Grenache vines, some even self-rooted, and Syrah. It is spontaneously fermented and aged in large wooden barrels.
As with all Perrin wines, the Gigondas Clos des Tourelles 2015 impresses with a captivating combination of density, finesse and noble tannins. This wine has no heaviness at all, it literally floats over the palate and ends with intense fruit notes such as blackberries and cherries in ist incredible long lasting aftertaste. A gigantic Gigondas, one of the best wines of the southern Rhone and a real rival for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Beaucastel.
