The Garrafeira is traditionally the highest quality of any particular winery in Portugal. Long lasting wines for special occasions carry this title traditionally. Let’s let winery owner Peter Eckert speak for himself: "After 2005, 2010 now our third Garrafeira. According to the Portuguese DOC regulations, Garrafeira is the highest quality level and has to meet particularly strict requirements. We produce a garrafeira about every five years. The prerequisite is that grapes are available that fall out of line. It comes from the oldest vines of the quinta with the lowest yields, two thirds of the wine matured in new French oak barrels. The result is an extremely elegant, multi-faceted wine with fine tannins and balanced acidity - the perfect companion for a fine meal. Can be stored for more than 15 years!"
