The Vina Ardanza Reserva is the elegant Rioja, why it is filled in burgundy bottles. 80% Tempranillo from Fuenmayor and Cenicero (Rioja Alta) and 20% Garnacha from Tudelilla in the Rioja Baja are matured for 30-36 months in used barriques, a toasty oak taste is deliberately not intended by La Rioja Alta.
2010 was officially classified by the Consejo Regulador as an excellent vintage and this shows up here in all splendor, a beguiling nose with aromas of cherries, herbs, chocolate, cinnamon and pepper, followed by a wonderful smoothness and length on the palate, the elegant tannins actually reveal parallels to Burgundy. Classic and stylish.
