The Vina Ardanza Reserva is the elegant Rioja, why it is filled in burgundy bottles. 80% Tempranillo from Fuenmayor and Cenicero (Rioja Alta) and 20% Garnacha from Tudelilla in the Rioja Baja are matured for 30-36 months in used barriques, a toasty oak taste is deliberately not intended by La Rioja Alta.
2009 was officially classified by the Consejo Regulador as a very good vintage and this shows up here in all splendor, a beguiling nose with aromas of cherries, herbs, chocolate, cinnamon and pepper, followed by a wonderful smoothness and length on the palate, the elegant tannins actually reveal parallels to Burgundy. Classic and stylish.
