If you are looking for a 1987 vintage, the Faustino I Gran Reserva is an excellent choice. In most of Europe's growing regions, 1987 was a difficult year, with quality often at best average and a rather short lifespan. This is not the case in Rioja, where top-class wines were produced that could last for decades at their peak, as can be seen from this example. The bottles come from the winery reserve and have only recently been released for sale.
The 1970 Faustino I consists of 85% Tempranillo, the remaining 15% are divided between Graciano, Mazuelo and the white grape variety Viura.
